Opening of the Visa Application Centre in Washington
To better welcome the public and reduce waiting times, the Consulate General of France in Washington will outsource the collection of visa applications to VFS Global.
As previously announced, this new process will gradually be put in place between April and July 2018.
As from Wednesday 18 April 2018, the VFS Visa Application Centre (VAC) for FRANCE in Washington will collect by appointments only, on behalf of the French Authorities, visa applications from applicants residing in the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of France in Washington (District of Columbia, States of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania).
Applicants residing in the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of France in Washington can already schedule an appointment on the website of VFS Global.
The opening of other visa application centers will be announced later: New Orleans and Houston (May 30), Chicago (June 5), Boston (June 6), San Francisco (June 27), Los Angeles (June 28), Miami and Atlanta (July 19) and New York (July 26). Until then, filing procedures remain unchanged and appointments can be made on the France-Visas website.
Once these centers are open, applicants will be able to apply for visas at the VFS center of their choice.
A service fee will be charged and will be payable online when making an appointment.
To facilitate the process for students and others who do not live near an application center, a mobile visa application service may be offered.
Prior to the opening of each center, the Embassy and Consulates General will be in touch concerning appointment details and we will keep you updated.
